Well what can I say. If you want a real camping experience where you go back to nature you have it all here. What an absolute amazing experience it took my breath away. We stayed for two nights and I had the best night sleep of listening to wild birds, nature and the spring water stream. Open woodland and glorious bluebells cover this untouched landscape. The spring water shower is incredible. This is a true camping experience taking you back to basics and enjoying life what it is. Kate and Angus are incredible hosts helping you with absolutely anything. We started out adventure with such a heart warming welcome and made us feel right at home till the moment we left. What a lovely couple and an amazing family. Thank you for allowing us to experience your untouched land, we have never felt so relaxed and switched off from life from the hustle and bustle of normality. I could literally live there 24 7. I will definitely be returning. The short walk from the car is so worth it once you get there. The access to as much wood as you would like for those open fires and late night giggles and conversation was amazing. Thank you ever so much for everything you really have everything perfect and how life should be.

Erica Lowden – July 2016: We had a great time thank you! We were slightly daunted by the up hill jaunt with all our stuff – obviously tried to pack light, but with a 5 and 2 year-old it proved tricky (travel cot included!) Managed to get all the gear up there and back with the use of the wheel barrows (sorry that the other people didn’t get much use of them!) We camped up at the top site, so we had more flat space to be near the camp fire and loo with the kids. The compost loo was great, a few of us managed a waterfall shower and loved it. We will definitely come again however will try to make sure the adult:child ratio is more balanced as the adults were outnumbered 4:3 and too many of them were small! It was so peaceful up there, nothing to be woken up by and we didn’t get up until about 8 each day which was remarkable. Jane was brilliant and all the staff in the pub were so helpful.

Emily Turton – May 2016: Just returned from a fantastic break at Yomer Wood. The wood (not site, as it didn’t feel like a campsite!) was beautiful with so much space. We loved cooking on the open fire and the shelter was perfect to protect us from the rain! We cannot wait to return with all our friends and will absolutely make it an annual trip to beautiful Norh Devon.

a friend and I spent a long weekend in Yomer wood. We weren’t too sure what to expect but we were really happy with what Yomer wood had to offer. A very diverse, beautiful and peaceful woodland with a really pretty stream running through it, even a stream shower if your brave enough!!
As we were using hammock instead of tents the Coniferous part of the wood was perfect for us but we could have camped anywhere as there were so many options and many little nooks and crannies to explore. There was plenty of wood laying around for the camp fire so you definitely won’t get cold! The owners Kate and Angus were the perfect hosts, making sure we knew they were available for any questions but also leaving us to ourselves to enjoy an authentic wild camping experience!
Looking forward to visiting again in the summer.
Rob and James.

Back in August me and my girlfriend stayed in Yomer Wood, we had the whole forest to ourselves by chance! It was just as we had imagined; secluded and wild with no modern facilities. We pitched up our tent by the little pond and got a fire going with the wood collected from the forest itself. All you could hear was the embers of our fire and the animals surrounding us. We took a long walk to Woolacombe the next morning as the coastal track is close by, with views of the sea along the whole route, you couldn’t ask for a better start to the day. Kate was so helpful with showing us around the land as well as the compostable toilet and stream shower which was very refreshing, and definitely woke you up! There is something about being fully naked in the woods that’s very liberating! Thank you for such a wonderful, relaxing weekend. We will definitely be coming back. Tom and Sophie

Visited in June 2015 and had a great weekend ‘wild’ camping here, highly recommended if you just want to get away from everything, great setting, good location too for Woolacombe/Ilfracombe. Loved it. Thank you

Incredible place to camp, just what Lee has always needed! Beautiful and secluded woodland with composting loo and opportunities for campfires. Lots of wildlife around, and a 15 minute stroll from the beach. They’ll even transport your gear with their tractor if needed, though the walk up to the site was no trouble. Can’t wait to return.

Grace McGeoch : Hi Kate and Angus. We just wanted to say thank you for a lovely stay in Yomer wood. We really enjoyed the location and appreciated the privacy and beauty of the wood. We hope to visit again one day.

Pippa Brown : Camping at Yomer was wonderful- surrounded by woodland, quiet and peaceful- just the sound of the stream and rustling of animals. At times it was so still, I could hear the crack of a leaf as it fell off the trees (I was camping alone). A real sense of freedom- great to be able to build fires and the shower is fantastic- you climb down a wooden ladder, stand on large slates and the high pressure of the fresh stream is exhilarating- its such a fun way to start the day!

Lucy Davies : Just wanted to thank you for letting us have the campsite for the night – I hope we left it as we found it. It was lovely, so peaceful – a real tonic. The girls loved it – just wished we had booked if for longer!!
Are you open still later on in the year if the weather is still good?
Thanks one again.

Melanie Rose: Hi Kate. Thank you so much! – thank Angus for getting us to and fro in the tractor – it would have been a nightmare without the help especially in the rain.
I know we will be back next summer – dates yet to be decided! I have copied in Letty as I believe her and Joe are planning on coming down some time in September when hopefully the sun will be shining! – I have posted images on FB. See you next year
